Why Are Men Always Expected to Make the First Move in Sex and Relationships?

Everything we do romantically is shaped by gendered scripts; in American scripts, men are usually handed the responsibility of initiating dates or sexual encounters.

Being rejected sucks. Let me tell you about my first experience with it. Like me, the object of my desire was 13 years old, and he was the hottest thing ever -- a geek who loved the natural sciences. He seemed like an awesome match for an Internet-obsessed nerd girl with weird pets. Sadly, he responded to my overture by saying that I could shove one of my pets up my ass. I can laugh about this now, but it sure sucked in my teens, and gave me a complex about asking guys out that lasted through my 20s. Voting leads to orgasm?

"Spanish politicians have criticised a video by the Young Socialists in Catalonia in which a woman simulates an orgasm while casting her vote.

Both Socialist and opposition politicians have attacked the campaign video.

The equality minister called it "misleading" advertising.

In the video the young woman gets increasingly excited as she votes for the Socialist Party in this month's regional elections in Catalonia.

It concludes with the phrase, "Voting is a pleasure", after she puts her voting slip in the ballot box.

The leader of the conservative opposition Popular Party of Catalonia, Alicia Sanchez-Camacho, said the video was an "attack on the dignity of women".

The health minister, Leire Pajin, who is a Socialist, called on all parties to show respect for women and to act responsibly.

The Socialist equality minister, Bibiana Aido, said of the video: "If it was true, electoral participation would go up greatly, but I think we are dealing with a misleading advert."

Students Turning to Prostitution and Stripping

He is part of a number of students who have taken work in the sex industry as a source of income. “Participation in sex work: students’ views,” a UK study published in May 2010 by the journal Sex Education, found that 16.5 percent of undergraduate students would consider working in the sex industry and that 93 per cent identified money as one of their main motivations. The same study found that 11 percent would consider taking a job as an escort.

Lohan won't play porn star

Research commissioned by the Playboy channel found that women, especially younger ones, are open to watching porn if it features "real chemistry, nonenhanced body parts, varied body shapes and 'contextualized' sex. Not everyone agrees.

Just last week, in the first of Fleshbot's Porn For Straight Girls posts, where Sailor Ripley declared, "What I, token Straight Girl, want out of porn: something hot, heavy, and funny to boot. It's not about an overwrought story that happens to have a lot of sex; it's primarily about the fucking."

The commenters on that post, asked to describe what they wanted out of porn, mostly corroborated the findings of the Playboy study, with a little less focus on narrative or context. A sampling:

Students in a porn movie prank

FRISKY students discovered a new way to entertain themselves — by projecting 30ft-high PORN images on to buildings.

A group of youngsters from Bournemouth University, Dorset, projected the x-rated video on the wall of an opposing halls of residence, covering four whole floors.

The video featured a curvy blonde woman stripping before engaging in a steamy romp with a dark haired man.

And if the images weren't enough to grab the attention of passers-by, the group also used a monster stereo system to play out the booming moans and groans for everyone to hear.

One of the jokers revealed the prank started during a quiet night in watching films in their halls of residence called Purbeck House in Bournemouth town centre.

He said: "We were watching a non porn film and thought: 'I wonder if we could get it on the other building?'

Flirting can be more than fun, researchers say

There is a lot more to flirting than fun, according to a new research study that says finding success in romance depends in part on understanding your own personal "flirting style.

Whether or not you prefer sidling up to a stranger in a bar or you'd rather sit back and wait for an object of attraction to approach are distinctions that once recognized can help people navigate the rocky seas of relationships, according to Jeffrey Hall, assistant professor of communication studies at the University of Kansas.

Hall recently completed a study into styles of flirting among dating adults, surveying more than 5,100 people regarding their methods of communicating romantic interest.

"Knowing something about the way you communicate attraction says something about challenges you might have had in your past dating life," Hall said. "Hopefully, this awareness can help people avoid those mistakes and succeed in courtship."

Hall said there are essentially five styles of flirting: physical, traditional, polite, sincere and playful.

In physical flirting, people express their sexual interest in a potential partner and, he says, often quickly can develop the relationships, have more sexual chemistry and have a greater emotional connection to their partners.

Traditional flirts tend to believe that men should make the first moves, with women assuming more passive roles. Both sexes comfortable with this style seem to prefer more "intimate" dating scenes,, he said.

There are many people whose flirting styles fall into the category of "playful" and are aimed largely at enhancing their own self-esteem, Hall said. These people are less likely to have lasting and meaningful relationships, he added.

"In some ways, the very early part of developing relationships is important to the success of long-term relationships, including marriages," he said.

Hall co-authored the article with Steve Carter, senior director of research and product development at online dating site eHarmony.com; and other researchers.

Sri Lanka launches porn star man-hunt

Sri Lankan newspapers have published pictures of people police said had acted in locally produced pornographic films, part of a court-ordered crackdown and the latest sign of growing social conservatism.

Police have identified 83 people they say have acted in the films found on websites, and got a court order to have media outlets publish their pictures to help locate the suspects.

"This is illegal and we need them to be identified for investigations," police spokesman Priyashanth Jayakody said.

The move is part of a crackdown on pornography in the Indian Ocean nation of 21 million.

The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has already blocked about 100 pornography sites and police have been arresting people with porn on their mobile phones.

Sri Lanka is a Buddhist majority nation, which also has Hindus, Muslims and Christians, and traditional values and more liberal social norms have generally co-existed well during its modern history.

But there have been growing signs of conservatism. There is a movement within a faction of president Mahinda Rajapaksa's government to ban alcohol, which has been resisted by the tourist industry which stands to lose revenue as it is rebuilding after the end of a three-decade civil war.

In March, Sri Lanka refused a visa to the Senegalese-American R&B singer and rapper Akon to perform in Colombo after Buddhists protested over a video in which he appeared briefly showed scantily clad women dancing in front of a Buddha statue.

FBI Busts Consenting Adults for Having Sex!

Last summer, a sex worker from San Francisco called a client she found through Craigslist and they made plans to meet in the best hotel of a small Southern town. Shortly after they stepped into the hotel room, police stormed in to join the FBI agent who had posed as the client, and arrested the sex worker as part of a nation-wide sting which targeted venues such as “truck stops, motels and the Internet,” according to an FBI report on Operation Innocence Lost. Operation Innocence Lost focuses on rescuing children forced into sex work, but has arrested hundreds of consensual adult sex workers since its inception in 2003.

“They kept me in the hotel room and tried to interrogate me for more than three hours, but I refused to talk to them,” recalls the sex worker. A year later, after spending approximately $5000 on bail and legal fees, she continues to work as an escort, although she is traumatized from her arrest: 

“Now I feel paranoid and jumpy in ways that might be too extreme. I still have nightmares where FBI and police are chasing me. I just wanted to run and hide and be somewhere safe. I’m generally easygoing, but my emotions have been all over the place.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal will star in a movie that takes a humorous look at the invention of sex aids as a mechanical cure for presumed 'hysteria'. 

Location shooting in London is under way on Hysteria, and the jokes are flying thick and fast. In fact, the film industry is "buzzing" with the news that rival claims to the invention of the first vibrator are to be settled in its screenplay.

The film, in which the Oscar-nominated Maggie Gyllenhaal will appear alongside a British cast including Jonathan Pryce, Sheridan Smith, Ashley Jensen, Rupert Everett and Gemma Jones, is to tell the story of the accidental discovery of motorised sex aids in Victorian England. The film will support the contentious claim that, around 1880, a Dr Joseph Mortimer Granville, played by Hugh Dancy, was the first to create an electromechanical vibrator and that his invention was followed in 1902 by the patenting of a device later retailed by the American company, Hamilton Beach.

"It's set in 1880 and it's based on fact," said Pryce, who plays a physician, Robert Dalrymple, father to Gyllenhaal's character. "There are humorous elements, for sure, but ultimately it's a film about female emancipation and liberation."

Pornstar Devon James confesssed! The supposed sex tape with Tiger Woods is fake.

A porn star who attempted to sell a sex tape she claimed showed her and the golf champion has admitted it is a fake, RadarOnline.com reported. 

Melinda Janette, a.k.a. Devon James, added a disclaimer to the web page where she sells the 62-minute tape shortly before it was set to ship conceding it was a "spoof."

The price for the footage, which can be bought via credit card or PayPal, has also been lowered to $19.99 from $25.95.

In June, Janette’s ex-husband told the gossip website that had made a deal with a DVD production company to sell the tape, from which they expected to make $5 million in sales.

They also claimed that Woods' lawyers had contacted them and threatened to sue - a charge the golfer's lawyers denied.

Woods never denied having relations with Devon James, an admitted prostitute, who said she met the golfer when she was 19, but her claims of a sex tape were always considered shaky.

Nor was it the first time she tried to score money from the embattled golfer.

In June, Janette claimed Woods had fathered her 9-year-old child, Austin T. James - a claim even her own mother, Sandra Brinling, wouldn't back up.

Brinling, who had custody of the youngster, told the Daily News her daughter knew exactly who the father was.

"All she is looking for is to get money," she said.

Now Showing at MMIA: Nude Images of Passengers

Lagos — The 3D full-body scanners procured for thorough body check of passengers at the nation’s major airports for security reasons are now being abused by security officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), THISDAY can confirm.
They use the machines, installed in the wake of the Farouk AbdulMutallab affair, to watch the naked images of female passengers for fun.

The controversial body scanners have been dubbed “e-stripping” in advanced countries because of the way they expose the nakedness of those being screened.
THISDAY discovered that during off-peak periods, the aviation security officials, who are trained on the use of the scanners, usually stroll from the cubicle located in a hidden corner on the right side of the screening area where the 3D full-body scanner monitors are located.
They do so to catch a glimpse of some of the passengers entering the machine and immediately go back to view the naked images, in order to match the faces with the images since the faces are blurred on the monitors while passengers are inside the machine.
The face that appears on the scanner’s monitor is usually blurred so that the operator viewing the full body will not recognise who passes through the machine.
But by coming out to see the passenger in person and then going back to see his or her image, the objective of protecting the privacy of the passenger has been defeated.

THISDAY observed this development first-hand when it visited the screening area, passed through the conventional screening machine at 3pm last Saturday and observed that passengers were reluctant to use the new 3D full-body scanner.
To compel them to use it, one of the conventional scanners was put out of service, leaving the ones at the left end and another very close to the new scanner.

A FAAN senior official expressed shock in an interview with THISDAY, saying: “It is a breach of privacy. I will deal with it immediately I return to Lagos.”
The official informed THISDAY that the actual passengers the scanner was meant for were US-bound passengers, who travel with Arik Air and Delta Air Lines.
But when THISDAY visited the airport last Saturday, these airlines were not checking in passengers.
In fact, it was only Emirates that had opened its check-in desk and passengers were just trickling in and passing through the screening machines.
“In Lagos, we ensure that passengers going to US through Arik Air and Delta pass through the full-body scanner. It is not compulsory for all passengers, but in Abuja all passengers meant for international flights pass through the full-body scanner,” said the FAAN official.
THISDAY also learnt that two out of the four scanners at the Lagos airport are working, while the other two are not working because of non-functional monitors.

So far, only one 3D full-body scanner is working at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
FAAN recently ordered and procured 10 of the machines, which would be deployed in the four major airports in the country.
Since the failed underwear bomb attempt of US airliner by AbdulMutallab, in Detroit, Michigan, major airports in the world have deployed the 3D full body scanners for total body screening of passengers and crew to ensure safety in air travel.
However, there is anxiety over passengers’ complete cooperation with the new screening method as some of them express fear that the radiation from the screening equipment is capable of causing health disorders like skin cancer.
Also, another class of passengers are resisting going through the screening machines for religious reasons, insisting that it is against their religion to expose their nakedness.


An aviation security expert told THISDAY in Lagos:  “The scanner is capable of detecting and revealing substances that could pose security threats concealed on a person’s body that other screening devices, such as metal detectors, cannot detect. The scanner can even reveal very small quantities of liquid explosives, non-metallic weapons, and plastic explosives that could be inimical to aviation safety.”
The new device is expected to boost security operations at the nation’s airports, as it helps to eliminate the threats posed by terrorists, drug carriers, and it will help to improve the image of the country on security.

Was it important for you who was your partner or who was the director while shooting a movie, or it didn’t matter at all?

SI:
It didn’t matter for me. I thought of this as work only, so I didn’t care about my partners. I didn’t look for a sex partner or a boyfriend at the shooting. I didn’t go there for having sex. I went there to work. If you work in a bank you don’t care about who is the customer, who wants to open an account… And I never had any problem with the directors.

PSC:
Is there a straight line for you between “I am doing porn” and “I am making love”?

SI:
For me to „make porn” is not „having sex”. So yes, there’s a straight line. You cannot compare those two at all. That’s why I never watch porn. I don’t find it arousing. It’s so “anatomical” for me.

PSC:
How your boyfriend/husband feels about you doing porn and the adult webcam?

SI:
Sometimes he makes a home video, when we have sex but only for himself. He likes what I do now, he finds me sexy during my work and he’s not jealous.

PSC:
Does this happen, that your boyfriend/husband is on the set of the shooting of a porn movie? If yes, doesn’t it feel awkward?

SI:
No, because when we started to date, I already stopped doing porn about five years ago.

If you could choose another career, what would you do?

SI:
I would manage an agency if I had the time for that. And teach the girls and boys.

SI:

SI:
All of it.

SI:
I worked with girls and boys too. In private life I am of the monogamous type and I had only boyfriends. Now I am with my husband only and I always had one man at the same time.

Why have you started to perform via cam?

SI:
Well, I needed the money, and I searched for a work which I can do on the Internet from my home only for a few hours, and actually this was the very first I found…

Is this easier or harder than making porn movies?

SI:
It’s sometimes easier and sometimes harder. In porn movies you know exactly your salary and there are no empty rides. Also in porn movies there are no charge backs because of the credit card cheaters. In porn I earned much more money, but I had to stay on shootings all days long and now I stay online only for a few hours. In porn you can get sick because of sexual diseases. On the webcam it‘s safe sex all the way. At the porn shooting you meet nice people, who are kind to you, if you do a nice job. There is no stress and everybody tells you that you are beautiful and sexy during the shootings to motivate you for the perfect job. Here you can meet people who are not so kind, and people who want to hurt you. And you have to keep smiling to all of this. At the beginning it wasn’t easy, but nowadays I don’t care about these people.

PSC:
How much time do you spend daily behind the camera?

SI:
I’m here two times daily for 1-1 hours or 2-3 hours maximum. It depends on the members and my mood.

PSC:
What was the strangest or funniest thing somebody asked to do from you in a cam show?

SI:
Well, it was private, so I think that I have to keep that secret for both us.

PSC:
Does the fact, that you are a past porn star make you more popular than other girls?

SI:
It’s true, that a lot of guys comes here because of my name, but a lot of guys also comes here because I talk a lot and my room is not boring. There are young boys who don’t know me at all. They search for me on the net and they come back satisfied with the thing they found. The fans know that I’m a professional and I can give them exactly what they want. They can ask strange things too, which won’t scare me. If somebody knows my work he knows that he is on the right place in m room. They can get even answers about the shootings of one my porn movie.
